Understanding Freight Brokerage from the Inside Out

"Walk a mile in their shoes." Truly understanding a client’s business is the foundation of creating solutions that actually solve their challenges

At Bear Cognition, that philosophy runs deep. Many of us across the company came directly from the freight brokerage industry. Before launching Bear Cognition, our leadership team spent nearly two decades as one of the largest franchise owners of Worldwide Express, operating eleven markets across the country.

Long before we entered the world of data intelligence, automation, and AI, we were deep in the trenches of freight brokerage. We’ve lived the daily grind, understood the frustrations firsthand, and experienced the same operational challenges that brokers, 3PLs, and carriers still face today.

Life in the Freight Trenches

For 13 years, I lived and breathed LTL freight. I audited shipment costs, explained why a freight class was 200 instead of 50 (more times than I can count), and had carrier hold music memorized.

I ran countless cost analyses, from reviewing invoices, manually quoting shipments, and rebuilding pricing structures. Nights and weekends disappeared into spreadsheets because quoting, booking, and servicing alone could take an entire day. Add in OS&D claims, reclasses, and reweigh disputes, and it became clear: manual processes were the biggest drag on productivity and profitability.

Truckload brokerage had its own chaos. Inboxes overflowed with quote requests. Reps bounced between TMS platforms to chase buy rates. Check calls turned into endless loops with dispatchers who didn’t know where the truck was.

Freight isn’t glamorous, but it’s essential. And while the industry keeps the economy moving, it’s still full of manual, inefficient, and error-prone workflows that hold teams back. We battled them daily, and those experiences shaped us as much as they tested us.

Why We Built Constellation One

That’s why the recent launch of Constellation One is so meaningful to us.

It’s not just another freight tech system, but rather, it’s a direct response to the pain points we experienced as a brokerage. Constellation One is an AI-powered automation and optimization platform purpose-built for freight brokers, 3PLs, and carriers.

The platform’s modular design allows each organization to build a system that fits their operations, processes, and customers. It delivers automation where it’s needed most - reducing manual work, increasing accuracy, and giving teams back their time.

What Constellation One Automates

Today, Constellation One helps logistics teams automate and optimize critical freight tasks such as:

  • Quoting directly from email requests

  • Creating BOLs from emailed information

  • Automating check calls

  • Running cost analyses

  • Handling account-specific pricing bids

  • Optimizing routes and bidding

  • Reconciling invoices and claims

Each of these automation capabilities eliminates repetitive work and speeds up operations, while improving data accuracy and customer responsiveness.

Built by Freight Experts. Powered by AI.

Constellation One isn’t theory. It’s the result of decades of hands-on freight experience, early client collaboration, and the expertise of our data science and engineering teams.

Like the freight industry itself, our work is never finished. We continue to enhance Constellation One with intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and data-driven optimization tools that adapt to our clients’ evolving needs.

Because this industry doesn’t just need more technology. It needs technology that works as hard as the people in it.

Key Takeaway

Bear Cognition’s Constellation One brings together AI, automation, and real-world freight expertise to eliminate inefficiencies, improve accuracy, and help brokers, 3PLs, and carriers scale intelligently.

We don’t just build software. We engineer intelligence for the freight industry. See for yourself!
